Day 17 Theme: A Tight Shot

Knowing how to frame your subject in your photograph, also known as composition, is the cornerstone of good photography. Today’s theme in my Project 365 challenge is to create a photo using a tight composition.

If you remember, yesterday, I got low to the ground to take photos of my basset hound, Daisy (you can read that post here) and while I was down there, I was able to get this shot where her face filled the frame.

Just look at that face!!!  She wasn’t very happy with me and my camera getting all up in her personal space, but I was determined to get some shots of her, since I usually only get photos of her four-legged sisters. Again, excuse the fact that she is in need of a really good bath, I will get to that later on today. You can see in this photo, that her face fills the entire frame and what little background exists is completely out of focus, causing the viewer’s eye to settle only on the subject.

You can read more about using tight framing in Darren Rowse’s article posted on the Digital Photography School website here.

That’s it for now. Enjoy, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
